Yoga has woven its' way in and out of my life. As a child, I was a gymnast and our coach taught us various yoga postures throughout our training. Because the focus was primarily on the postures and not the other aspects of yoga, it never "clicked" with me.

About 15 years ago I began taking private Iyengar Yoga sessions and while I learned a great deal, I never made that deep connection with yoga.

I realize now, that I was simply not ready for yoga. There is a saying; "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." I have witnessed the evidence of this truth over and over since my first Ashtanga yoga class with Jennifer Connatser Engleman. It was love at first breath! I loved how focusing on my breath focused my mind and how the practice became a moving meditation. This was a practice that was challenging, exhilarating, and inspiring!

My yoga studies continued with Karen Prior and Samatva yoga. Studying with Karen has fundamentally changed my view of the world and how I respond to challenges in my life. I cannot express the amount of honor I feel when studying with Karen. Samatva is described as : "an inner state of harmony and balance: capacity to treat good and bad results with the same feeling, without placing judgement: evenness, balance, equanimity of the mind and body: the practice of learning to use yoga to heal the body/mind and to maintain a sense of samatva, or balance in all aspects of life."

I received my 200 hour Samatva Yoga certification with Karen Prior and am currently working toward my 500 hour certification.

I have to express my gratitude not only to Karen Prior, but also to Jennifer Engleman, Maggie Clayton, Natalia Callard, Tina Helton and every single student who has passed through one of my classes for continuing to inspire and uplift me. I love you all.
